Cristiano Ronaldo Fined $21.6M For Tax Fraud

Jan 22, 2019 10:14 AM

Cristiano Ronaldo has been fined $21.6 million for tax fraud but will avoid a 23-month prison sentence.

Ronaldo played for Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018.

In 2017, Ronaldo denied the accusation that he knowingly used a business structure to hide income generated by his image rights in Spain between 2011 and 2014.

According to the prosecutor's report, Ronaldo "obtained significant income" from image rights between 2011 and 2014 and "should have paid tax in his subsequent declarations" to the Spanish authorities and failed to do so.

Maurizio Sarri: Chelsea Struggle To Get Up For Big Matches

Jan 20, 2019 2:40 AM

Maurizio Sarri criticized Chelsea's mentality following their 2-0 loss to Arsenal.

"It seems we really struggle to get ourselves up for these games. I'm really angry about the approach that we adopted today. You can find yourself in difficulties from time to time, but we need to react to those difficulties a lot better than we did today. It was the same in our game against Tottenham [lost 3-1]. We thought we'd overcome that problem. I don't mind losing, but I don't like losing in this manner."

Sarri had commented on Chelsea's lack of mentality earlier in the season.

Chelsea have lost 5 times in their last 16 matches after going the first 18 matches of the season unbeaten.

Pep Guardiola: Spying Is A Part Of Club Culture

Jan 18, 2019 3:45 PM

In response to the controversy surrounding "Spygate", Pep Guardiola stated that spying on opponents is a part of footballing culture everywhere else but England.

"In other countries everybody does that. They are open. When I was training in Munich there were people on the mountain [overlooking training] with cameras and long lenses watching what we were doing. Everybody does it. It's the culture of all the clubs, not just the previous ones where I worked. It was a part of the club," said Guardiola.

Guardiola added that he's never spied with Manchester City.

"I'm not going to send someone to Huddersfield if that is the question."
