Diego Simeone After Athletic Loss: Time To Observe, Watch, And Grow

Mar 17, 2019 9:39 PM

Diego Simeone said this wasn't his worst week as Atletico Madrid manager following consecutive losses to Juventus in the Champions League and Athletic Bilbao in the league.

"The worst was when we lost the Champions League final on penalties in Milan. We are used to constantly fighting and competing. This is a time to observe, watch and grow. In the league, we're in a good position after seven good months and intend to stay there," said Simeone.

Simeone did admit that his side were at the mercy of Barcelona in the league.

"In recent years, this has been a team used to fighting for titles until the end and now, we are waiting to see what Barcelona do [in future weeks, beginning away at Real Betis on Sunday night], whilst being far away from them."

Zinedine Zidane On Real Madrid Squad: I Just Know The Players

Mar 16, 2019 7:07 PM

Zinedine Zidane said he will rely upon his entire squad for the last 10 matches of the La Liga season following their 2-0 win over Celta Vigo.

"Nobody here, or anywhere, can take away what these players have done here. I have a squad of 23, 24, 25 players and will count on them all...I believe all the players here know that you must play football. That is what I like, and what the players like. But, also, when we don't have the ball, we must run, to get it back. I just know the players they are, they have shown it before here. I am going to count on them. They showed that today, those who had played less - Keylor, Marcelo, Isco, Marco - all of them," said Zidane.

Zidane made immediate changes to the starting lineup, bringing back Keylor Navas, Isco, and Marcelo.

Mar 16, 2019 6:54 PM

Dani Ceballos praised Zinedine Zidane following Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Celta Vigo.

"The change of the coach seems to have worked. We have recovered the ambiance and have picked up the three points that we wanted. We are clear that our goal now is to win all of the games that we have left and to finish as high as possible.

Ceballos picked out Isco and Gareth Bale for their performance. Isco rarely played under Santiago Solari.

"Isco and [Gareth] Bale did well. They are two key players and will be important for us, like the other 25 guys."

Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool Won't Spend Big Money This Summer

Mar 16, 2019 1:54 PM

Jurgen Klopp said that Liverpool have enough quality in their squad where they won't need to spend money this summer.

Klopp added that he wants to focus on squad development.

“I don’t want to talk exactly what we will do but I don’t think this is a team at the moment where we have to spend the big money or whatever. The best way to do it is bring together a group of players, try to develop them altogether and then stay together for a while. And that was maybe the main problem of Liverpool for the last decade. When they had a good team after a season they went all over the world. That will not happen this year for sure," said Klopp.

Klopp added that teams in Europe are beginning to fear Liverpool.

"We have to start looking at ourselves how other teams see us. When you think about how Bayern faced us here – I saw Bayern playing a lot in the last years but I never saw them being that defensive-orientated. When Manchester City came here, it was similar. They had a lot of respect for us but I am not sure we always have the same amount of respect for ourselves."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer On Barcelona Draw: Confidence Is 'Sky High'

Mar 16, 2019 1:50 PM

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that Manchester United can beat any top team in Europe after getting drawn with Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals.

“We’ve shown against PSG that on any given day we can beat a top team. Then again there’s so many variables and these games will be decided by margins...So yes, we can go all the way but you’ve got to be lucky and good along the way. The confidence in the players, it’s sky high. And the mood is good, the training attitude is good, so hopefully we can keep that run going," said Solskjaer.

Solsjaer added that the tie will come down to whichever side has the momentum.

“[It’s about] momentum – the more games you win, the more confidence you breed, the more hunger there is in the player. Every single game that you win puts another layer on that, on the way to becoming the team that we want to be," he added.
