Gian Piero Gasperini: Atalanta Will Do Well In Champions League

May 26, 2019 7:19 PM

Gian Piero Gasperini reflected upon his Atalanta side making the Champions League for the first time in club history.

"The Champions League for Atalanta is a goal that has never been conquered during the club's history and comes to us in a very honourable way. In my opinion, we will do well. The lads have been marvellous, extraordinary," said Gasperini.

Inter also qualified for the Champions League through a late goal from Radja Nainggolan.

"I expected a match like this. It was always going to be a night of suffering. We needed to put our hearts into this match and we did. I'm very unhappy to see Empoli in Serie B, I have a lot of friends there. They deserved to be saved. But we never gave up until the end," said Luciano Spalletti.

Luka Jovic: Premier League Or Serie A Suit Me Better Than Bundesliga

May 26, 2019 1:44 PM

Luka Jovic said that he thinks he can take his game to another level by playing in the Premier League or Serie A.

"On a physical level, the Bundesliga is very demanding. But after playing against Chelsea and Inter, I personally felt that I could feel even better [playing] in the Premier League or Serie A. Due to the way they play, teams suit me more there," said Jovic.

Jovic has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Real Madrid, although Eintracht and Madrid still need to work out a transfer fee.

Pochettino: Harry Kane Decision Will Define Champions League

May 25, 2019 7:10 PM

Mauricio Pochettino said that his decision whether to start Harry Kane will influence the perception of Tottenham's Champions League result.

Kane is on pace to be fit for the final.

“Whether to start him is a point we’re thinking about a lot. It is a decision that, one way or the other, will be judged after the game. If we win: fantastic decision. If we lose: sh*t decision, and you are going to kill me," said Pochettino.

Pochettino added that whichever team manages their emotions better will win the match.

“What I learned from playing the 1992 Copa Libertadores semi-final and final with Newell’s Old Boys was that your emotional state is decisive. It’s not tactics, it’s not physicality. It’s about how the emotion will be the trigger for your talent, how you manage it.”

Leicester City Betting Favorites To Sign Arjen Robben

May 25, 2019 1:40 PM

Leicester City have moved into pole position to sign Arjen Robben, according to oddsmakers.

The odds of Robben signing for Leicester are set at 2/1, with PSV still in the running.

Robben has not ruled out retiring after the season.

“It is an option, but I don’t know whether it will happen. It is not an easy decision to make. If you decide that you are going to keep playing, you have to find a place where everything is just right, not just in terms of football but also for my family," said Robben.

Gerard Pique: Roma Collapse Affected Liverpool Match

May 24, 2019 12:02 PM

Gerard Pique admitted that Barcelona were still scarred by Roma's comeback in last season's Champions League during their loss to Liverpool in this year's competition.

"I think people were mentally affected by what happened in Rome because it had happened so recently. It was a mental block. They pressed very high, we lacked our usual passing rhythm, and it was very intense. Anfield also played its role. It's been hard to lift ourselves up emotionally because the days passed but the loss wasn't forgotten. We have to step forward," said Pique.

Pique backed Ernesto Valverde as the right manager to take Barcelona forward.

"Catalans are very demanding and we like to do things perfectly. It's not winning, but how you win. Pep Guardiola's time [in charge] is very recent, which was the best time to play football here. The debate will continue whoever the coach is, but I can assure you that Valverdewants to play the same style. I'm in the dressing room and I know what he tells us to do."

Mauricio Pochettino Needs To Know Danie Levy's Next Plans For Spurs

May 24, 2019 11:45 AM

Mauricio Pochettino has said he sees his future at Spurs but wants to know chairman Daniel Levy's plans for the club's future progress.

Pochettino became manager of Spurs in 2014 and has led the club to their first Champions League.

Pochettino was linked with Real Madrid before the return of Zinedine Zidane and has now been linked with Juventus following the departure of Massimiliano Allegri.

Asked on Spanish radio station Cadena Cope whether he could coach Madrid one day, Pochettino said: "I have no further aims than to coach Tottenham. I don't allow myself to dream long term. Football puts you in the place you deserve.

"It doesn't depend on the result of the [Champions League] final. It's a five-year project where the aim is to put Tottenham at the highest level possible worldwide. We are playing the Champions League final one year after completing our stadium.

"The need is to know what comes next. It's important to know what the chairman and the owners of the club are thinking with respect to the future. It's crucial to know what our aim is.

"Our plan wasn't to win the Champions League, even though it sounds harsh -- our plan was to complete the new stadium."
