Kylian Mbappe To Net $61M Per Season On New Deal With PSG

May 23, 2022 1:52 PM

Kylian Mbappe's contract with Paris Saint-Germain is the richest in soccer, signing a three-year contract that will net him €57 million ($61 million) per season.

Various bonuses could potentially made the deal worth €300 million over three years.

PSG also gave Mbappe the ability to help influence who is the manager, sporting director and probably players.

Mbappe didn't want to work with Leonardo anymore, and on Saturday night, only a few hours after the official announcement of the forward's extension, PSG told the sporting director he was sacked.

May 23, 2022 1:50 PM

Borussia Dortmund have appointed Edin Terzic as manager, replacing Marco Rose.

The 39-year-old was assistant to Lucien Favre in 2018 and, following Favre's sacking, took over on a temporary basis until the end of the 2020-21 season before becoming the club's technical director.

"By now, people should know how important BVB is in my life," Terzic said. "We will give everything every day for the success of the club."

Rose left Dortmund by mutual consent last week.

Kylian Mbappe: My Decision Based On PSG's 'Sporting Project'

May 23, 2022 1:48 PM

Kylian Mbappe said Paris Saint-Germain's "sporting project" rather than financial considerations convinced him not to join Real Madrid.

Mbappe will sign a three-year extension and left the door open on a potential departure in 2025.

"Everybody knows I wanted to leave last year. But things are different now, in sporting terms and personally," Mbappe said. "Leaving my country wasn't the right thing. There's a sentimental aspect to this, and the sporting project has changed as well. ... We spoke for months about the sporting project, and we spoke about money for just a few minutes."

Mbappe reached out to Florentino Perez on Saturday.

"I made my decision last week," Mbappe said. "I spoke to Florentino Perez. I have a lot of respect for him and for Real Madrid. They did everything to bring me there and make me happy, so I thank them for that."

When asked Monday whether he expected to remain at the club beyond 2025, Mbappe refused to rule out a move away.

"Something I've learnt in football is you should look ahead, but not too far ahead," he said. "A year ago I didn't think I'd be sitting here, and now I've signed a new contract. ... I'm focusing on this new project. I don't know what will happen in the future. I don't know where I'll be in three years."

Kylian Mbappe Rejects Real Madrid, Signs Three-Year Deal With PSG

May 21, 2022 4:05 PM

Kylian Mbappe has decided against signing with Real Madrid and instead has agreed to a three-year extension with Paris Saint-Germain.

Real Madrid had been confident of their chances of signing Mbappe on a free transfer.

"I would like to announce that I have chosen to extend my contract at Paris Saint-Germain, and of course I am delighted," Mbappe said in a statement.

"I am convinced that here I can continue to grow at a club that provides everything necessary to perform at the highest level. I am also delighted to continue to play in France, the country where I was born, where I have grown up and where I have made my name.

"I would like to thank the President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for his trust, his understanding and his patience. I would also like to thank all the fans of Paris Saint-Germain, both in France and around the world, for their support, especially in recent months. Together, side by side and ambitious, we will make magic in Paris."

PSG sporting director Leonardo could leave the club as a consequence of the deal, with Mbappe preferring the former Monaco and Lille executive Luis Campos as a replacement, while Pochettino's future was also in doubt.

Madrid's transfer strategy has been built around their pursuit of Mbappe in recent years, and they will now plan for life without him.

Kylian Mbappe's Decision Causing Confusion At Real Madrid, PSG

May 20, 2022 12:18 PM

Kylian Mbappe will announce a decision over the weekend, but there is uncertainty causing "nervousness and confusion" with Real Madrid over his intentions.

There is now "pessimism" from Real Madrid on a potential deal while Paris Saint-Germain feels similarly.

Mbappe gave the okay for a move to Real Madrid months ago, but the club doesn't understand his behavior over the past two weeks.

The club is nervous at this late stage because they have not received confirmatio

n that Mbappe intends to formally accept their offer or stay in Paris.

Speaking to Kora Plus on Friday, Mbappe's mother Fayza Lamari confirmed that the player has agreed terms with both clubs.

"We will not have new meetings to discuss the future of Mbappe, these meetings are over," she said. "Now we have reached an agreement with both Real Madrid and PSG and the discussions are over because now it is Kylian who has to choose.

"The two offers, the one from PSG and the one from Real Madrid, are almost identical. At Real, my son will have control of his image rights. Now we will wait for his decision... The two offers do not differ much and we are waiting for Mbappe to choose what he wants."

Arsenal Unsure On Transfer For Gabriel Jesus

May 19, 2022 10:41 AM

Arsenal are unsure if they should move forward with a £55 million transfer agreement with Manchester City for Gabriel Jesus.

City boss Pep Guardiola would prefer to keep Jesus but will not stand in the striker's way if he pushes to leave.

Jesus' agent Marcelo Pettinati confirmed to the Guardian last week that talks had taken place and "we like the project" but also that there were six clubs in the frame.

Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the player having worked with him at City but Arsenal are looking at other options including Paulo Dybala, who will leave Juventus on a free transfer at the end of the season.
