Julian Nagelsmann Turned Down Dortmund Opening

Dec 9, 2019 1:12 PM

Julian Nagelsmann opened up about managing Barcelona one day with Ernesto Valverde under pressure at the club.

“I have said it many times. Barcelona is a beautiful city, a beautiful club. But this is not the only club that is attractive,” said the 32-year-old RB Leipzig manager.

Nagelsmann also said that he had an opportunity to manage Borussia Dortmund, but turned down the job due to timing.

“It is true that there was an interest (in him, from Borussia Dortmund). In football, time and form are always the key, and that did not fit, so I was not going to join Dortmund. The timing was not appropriate, and Borussia did not want to wait.”

Max Allegri: I Will Not Coach Until Next Season

Dec 6, 2019 6:44 PM

Max Allegri ruled out the possibility of coaching this season amid rumors of his connection to Arsenal.

Allegri also remarked on Pep Guardiola's possession-based football, saying that teams should stop trying to replicate his Barcelona squads.

"We have been falsely following Guardiola for 20 years. Pep found the exception; it is not a football for everyone. That historic Barcelona was born of great players who pressed high and pushed the opposition defences [back] into their area. The midfielders move forward and your defence can reach the middle third. But to do that you must have [Andres] Iniesta, Xavi [Hernandez] and [Lionel] Messi on your team," added Allegri.
