Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial To Miss West Ham Match

Sep 20, 2019 5:16 PM

Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial will miss Manchester United's match against West Ham due to injury.

Daniel James and Luke Shaw are also likely to miss the match.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted that teenager Mason Greenwood could keep his place on the team after scoring in to Europa League.

"It's always hard to keep players who perform well out of the team. If he keeps scoring goals, he'll play. If he keeps scoring goals when he's on the pitch he'll get more minutes in the Premier League as well and he'll get his first [league] start soon."

Barcelona, Spain Battle Over Potential Ansu Fati Call-Up

Sep 20, 2019 5:13 PM

Ernesto Valverde cautioned Spain against calling up Ansu Fati for next month's U-17 World Cup.

"He's still not been called up so we will see what happens. But it would be a setback because he's a player who's just coming into the first team and we don't know what will happen in that run of games [in October and November]," said Valverde.

Fati could miss up to five weeks if he were called up.

Fati is also eligible to play for Portugal and Guinea-Bissau.

Dani Parejo Offers Support For Albert Celades

Sep 19, 2019 1:19 PM

Dani Parejo said that Albert Celades has the support of Valencia's dressing room despite their anger with how Marcelino was dismissed from the team.

"Football is always changing and I have been through situations like this before. Marcelino did a great job, but we have a new manager now and our aim is still to win as many games as we can,' said Parejo.

Valencia lost 5-2 to Barcelona in Celades' first match in charge, and won 1-0 against Chelsea in Champions League.

Uli Hoeness Criticizes Munich Press For Not Defending Neuer

Sep 19, 2019 1:16 PM

Uli Hoeness went after the "west German" press for failing to defend Manuel Neuer in a row against Marc-Andre ter Stegen over who should start in goal for the German national team.

"I think it's a joke. Especially the Munich press, it is not OK. The west German press act as if ter Stegen has already won 17 World Cups. But I don't see anything from the south German press. No support," said Hoeness.

Hoeness continued, saying that Neuer should be first-choice in goal beyond the Euros.

"There is just no discussion for anyone in the world to doubt that Manuel Neuer should be in goal here in Germany and I read today that maybe [only] until the European Championship. He can play as long as he stays healthy. He will always be the best. End of story. We will light up the folks at DFB [German FA]. We are good at that."

Angel Di Maria: PSG Made Real Madrid Weak

Sep 19, 2019 12:58 PM

Angel Di Maria gave credit to PSG's pressing and aggression for their 3-0 win over Real Madrid in Champions League.

"No, I think we made them weak. Running so much, pressing so hard and doing our passing -- we know they struggle a lot trying to recover the ball. I think that was the most important thing we did," said Di Maria.

Di Maria scored two goals in the match.

Di Maria played for Real Madrid from 2010-2014, winning a Champions League in his final season with the team.

The Argentine has now been involved with four out of the last six PSG goals in Champions League.

Zinedine Zidane Following PSG Loss: We Did Not Have Intensity

Sep 19, 2019 12:50 PM

Zinedine Zidane criticized Real Madrid's effort and intensity following their 3-0 loss to PSG in the Champions League.

"Clearly they were better than us in every department -- in the way they played, in midfield. What upset me is that we did not put enough intensity in the game and at that level of competition, it's not possible. They're good at creating chances, that's not what worries me. What worries me is that lack of intensity," said Zidane.

Zidane also addressed his side's lack of chance creation in the match, even with a star-studded attacking lineup.

"Failing to create proper chances with the players we have up front -- Gareth BaleKarim Benzema and Eden Hazard -- is a weird feeling," Zidane said.
