Oxlade-Chamberlain Out Up To Four Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Mar 13, 2015 12:25 PM

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss up to four weeks with a hamstring injury.

Oxlade-Chamberlain sustained the injury in the second half of Arsenal's win on Monday at Manchester United.

The England international has made 35 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions this season, scoring three goals.

"It is a classic hamstring and that means he will be out for three to four weeks maximum," Wenger said.

"In the last few months he has been a bit in and out, but he showed again on Monday what an important player he can be for Arsenal and England and it is a shame that in the final sprint he is not there.

"How much will it affect him [mentally] I don't know. He loves to play and he is keen to play for England as well and it is a big blow for him, but he knows that this kind of injury he can recover quickly and he can come back, but it is not an ideal moment."

Daniel Sturridge Close To Being Fully Fit

Mar 3, 2015 4:22 PM

Brendan Rodgers believes Daniel Sturridge will be close to being fully fit by the end of this week.

Sturridge missed five months of the season after being injured while playing for England in early September.

Rodgers believes the Europa League has helped Sturridge get back up to full fitness quicker.

"Daniel is not fully fit yet and it is difficult for him because these are not training games for him to get fit," Rodgers said. "He's excited by the new system. Put a fully fit Daniel Sturridge into that system and it lights it up again.

"Come the end of this week Daniel be on a great run and able to play every game and be able to train.

"He wasn't quite ready for the Premier League so then we were trying to fit him in in games.

"The Europa League was a great chance to get some game time into him, but after five months out and with his history here that was something we had to think of.

"The last thing we wanted to do was break him. He felt good on Sunday on the back of playing Thursday. He's very determined to play and when you see a fully fit Daniel, he will be brilliant."
