Dec 16, 2018 1:58 PM

Eric Dier was ruled out until January after undergoing appendix surgery after Tottenham's Champions League match against Barcelona.

Dier was replaced in the lineup against Burnley by 18-year-old Oliver Skipp, who represents the 13th player to graduate from Tottenham's academy into the senior side under Mauricio Pochettino.

Of Skipp's perfomance, Pochettino said "I think he played like a 30-year-old man. So relaxed, trying to play forward and trying to give the team what the team needs … plenty of energy, full energy, I am so proud of him".

Joe Gomez Fractures Leg, Jurgen Klopp Critical Of Tackles

Dec 6, 2018 1:42 PM

Joe Gomez is out six weeks after fracturing his lower leg during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Burnley.

The 21-year-old Gomez has started 12 out of 13 matches this season and formed an important partnership with Virgl van Dijk at center back.

Jurgen Klopp asked the refs for more protection during the Burnley match, adding that "we all want to win football games, and there are different ways of doing it. Somebody has to tell you to stop doing it, make two more steps and make a normal challenge....I think the referee has to make sure that things like this don't happen constantly. It's not how it should be. Let's play football."

Burnley manager Sean Dyche defended his team's tackling style after the match while accusing Daniel Sturridge of diving.
