Vincent Kompany Out Another 3-4 Weeks With Calf Injury

Dec 29, 2015 11:07 PM

Manchester City will be without Vincent Kompany for another 3-4 weeks with a calf injury.

Kompany returned on Boxing Day after a month out with a calf injury but only lasted nine minutes before re-aggravating his muscle.

"Vincent has an injury, a second degree tear of the calf. It is the same calf but a different part," said Manuel Pellegrini. "We will see how long he will be out, but I don't think it will be less than three to four weeks.

"I am not a doctor, but with a muscle injury, it will be very difficult for him to be back in less than four weeks. But without him, we must continue to defend as did tonight."

Eden Hazard May Have Serious Injury

Dec 15, 2015 12:54 PM

Eden Hazard may have suffered a "serious injury" when he came off after 31 minutes in Monday's match.

Hazard limped off the pitch.

"I don't know what is wrong," said Jose Mourinho.

"The only thing I know is in 10 seconds he made the decision himself. It must be a serious injury because he just left the pitch and just made the decision not to go in.

"His first reaction was 'I can't' and I was going to make the change. His second reaction was 'I want to try,' and when he goes on the pitch, first step he immediately says 'I can't do it.' It was him in a few seconds who had three different perspectives, but clearly he couldn't do it."

Arsenal's Injury Reputation Overstated

Dec 1, 2015 12:43 PM

Arsenal is in the midst of another injury crisis but they are actually seventh in the Premier League with 24 injuries during the current season.

The league average is 20.5 and their 24 trails Manchester City (35), Manchester United (31) and Liverpool (25).

Arsenal will be without four of Arsene Wenger's 10 outfield starters this weekend.

The total days missed this season also tells a story. At a meagre 312 days,Arsenal fall way below the Premier League average (369.6) and when directly compared to Man City (546), Liverpool (656) and Spurs (520). Even Chelsea have suffered more cumulatively days (314) with players out.

Arsenal perhaps has received more criticism than other clubs due to Wenger's decision not to sign any outfield players in the summer.
