Van Persie Facing Lengthy Absence With Ankle Injury

Feb 27, 2015 1:08 PM

Robin van Persie is facing a lengthy lay-off with an ankle injury.

Van Persie will be unavailable for Manchester United when they play Arsenal in the FA Cup quarterfinals on March 9.

Van Persie suffered the ankle injury on Saturday.

Scans have shown the injury is “not heavy”, according to his manager Louis van Gaal, but he still expects a relatively long spell out for his leading striker.

“He is injured. He is the only injured player I have so we change [Michael] Carrick for Van Persie,” he said.

Robin Van Persie Awaits Results On Injured Ankle

Feb 23, 2015 1:33 PM

Robin van Persie will find out the results of a scan on Monday on his damaged right ankle.

Manchester United’s leading scorer left the Liberty Stadium on crutches following his team’s 2-1 defeat to Swansea City and wearing a protective boot.

Van Persie could not be substituted because United had already used their three replacements by the time he was hurt and Louis van Gaal claimed his team finished the match effectively with 10 men.

PSG Loses Four Key Players To Injury Ahead Of Chelsea Match

Feb 14, 2015 8:25 PM

Paris Saint-Germain lost four key players to injury in their 2-2 tie on Saturday against Caen.

Laurent Blanc confirmed that Yohan Cabaye, Marquinhos, Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura will all miss out against Chelsea in the Champions League this week after picking up injuries.

Cabaye was forced off with a groin injury in the 16th minute, while Marquinhos was replaced at halftime with a hamstring concern.

"It's a big blow for us but we have to cope with it. It's the first time I've ever experienced such an extraordinary scenario," Blanc said. "When you make your first two changes in the first 45 minutes, it's hard to judge when to make the third."

Steven Gerrard Out Three Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Feb 12, 2015 11:04 AM

Steven Gerrard will be out approximately three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Gerrard was substituted after 68 minutes of Tuesday's 3-2 Premier League win over Tottenham after complaining of the problem.

Liverpool assistant manager Colin Pascoe told a news conference: "Unfortunately, Steven had to come off during the Tottenham game. He's had the scan this morning, and we're just waiting for the results to come back."

Manager Brendan Rodgers has already suffered one injury setback in midfield this week, with Lucas Leiva ruled out for between four and six weeks after suffering a thigh injury during last Saturday's 0-0 draw at Everton.
