Mauricio Pochettino: We Need To Grow Up Like A Team

Sep 25, 2023 11:04 AM

Chelsea are 14th in the Premier League despite spending £1 billion on signings since last year's takeover by Todd Boehly. Chelsea lost to Aston Villa 1-0 on Sunday with Malo Gusto going off on a red card and Nicolas Jackson picking up his fifth booking of the season. Jackson will be suspended when Chelsea play at Fulham.

“We need to grow up like a team, not only in an individual way,” Mauricio Pochettino said. “I think players like Nico who are so young and feeling the Premier League, they need time.

“In this type of game, we are competing and want to win and football is about winning. But also players, when they are young, need to learn, and experience and make mistakes. That’s why we feel disappointed as there are too many situations like this.”

Asked specifically how he felt about the term, Bin Salman said: “I don’t care … I’m aiming for another one and a half per cent. Call it whatever you want, we’re going to get that one and a half percent.”

Harry Kane 'Happy' He Chose Bayern Munich

Sep 19, 2023 10:57 AM

Harry Kane said he is "glad" he chose Bayern Munich rather than a move to Manchester United.

Kane left Tottenham Hotspur in a $124 million transfer and will face United on Wednesday in the Champions League.

"Obviously over the summer I know there were some talks between a few clubs in the background, but Bayern was a team I was really interested by and really excited by so there weren't many other discussions," Kane told a news conference in Munich on Tuesday.

"Once they came in, it was between them and Tottenham to talk and the deal got done. My focus is on here, obviously Manchester United are a great club, a really big club as well but I decided to come here and I'm really happy I have."

Erik Ten Hag Denies United Is In Crisis After Loss To Brighton

Sep 17, 2023 3:26 PM

Erik ten Hag has denied that Manchester United is in crisis following their 3-1 loss to Brighton.

United is having their worst run in the Premier League era, though five points is their lowest return after five games, under Louis van Gaal in the 2014-15 season.

“We have to be very disappointed and annoyed at ourselves,” Ten Hag said. “We will turn this around. But there is a demand on us to win games.

“Definitely that is something that bothers me [form] but also I have to see the way we play [which was good] but it’s about character. Now we have to see how strong we are and how the team sticks together.”

Birmingham City Could Pursue Wayne Rooney As Manager

Sep 7, 2023 11:26 PM

Birmingham City could hire Wayne Rooney if John Eustace departs the club.

Rooney's contract with DC United expires in December.

“We asked about a new deal,” Rooney told the Washington Post. “We can sit down and talk about it. We haven’t heard back. The fact we haven’t heard back is probably signalling one thing, but I’m sure they’ll have their reasons for that. So I’ll wait and see.”

Rooney left Derby in June 2022.
