Wayne Rooney Steps Down As Manager Of Derby

Jun 24, 2022 3:26 PM

Wayne Rooney has stepped down as manager of Derby County.

The news comes after Derby were relegated from the Championship to third-tier League One this past season having being handed two separate points deductions for entering administration and breaching financial rules earlier in the season.

"Over the course of the Summer I have been closely following developments regarding the ownership of Derby County," Rooney wrote in a club statement.

"Today I met with the administrators to inform them of my decision that it was time for me to leave the club. In fairness to them, they tried tremendously hard to change my decision but my mind was made up.

"My time at the club has been a rollercoaster of emotions, both highs and lows, but I have to say that I have enjoyed the challenge.

"Personally, I feel the club now needs to be led by someone with fresh energy and not affected by the events that have happened over the last eighteen months. I will remember my time at Derby with great pride and affection and would like to thank all my staff, players and of course the fans for their incredible support. I will never forget you and hope to see you all again in the near future and in happier times."

Raheem Sterling Seeking Transfer From City To Chelsea

Jun 20, 2022 2:13 PM

Raheem Sterling is interested in a transfer from Manchester City to Chelsea. Sterling is entering the final season of his contract with City.

City would prefer to receive a fee for Sterling this summer rather than allowing him to leave for free in 12 months and value the former Liverpool winger at between £50-60 million.

Sterling is reluctant to sign an extension with City due to concerns of how central his place will be under Pep Guardiola. Guardiola has made a point during his time at City of not keeping players who are unhappy.

Cristiano Ronaldo Commits To Remaining With United Next Season

Jun 3, 2022 10:37 AM

Cristiano Ronaldo has gone on record that he's committed to remaining at Manchester United next season under Erik ten Hag.

United endured their worst season in Premier League history with their lowest points tally (58) in the competition's era and failed to qualify for next season's Champions League.

"I was happy of course to be back at a club that really raised my career. So it was unbelievable," he told the club's official website on Friday.

"The feeling when I [came] back again, it was nice to feel the supporters. The happiness of them as great. I was -- and still am -- very happy to be here."

He added: "It's still my motivation to carry on working hard, to still love the passion for the game, and of course Manchester and my teammates help me all the way so I have to appreciate all the people who help Cristiano.

"But the most important thing for me is to try to win the games and try to win some championship or some cup but I believe that Manchester will be where they belong. Sometimes it takes time, but I still believe."
