Paul Pogba Receives Four-Years Doping Ban

Feb 29, 2024 2:39 PM

Paul Pogba has been suspended from soccer for four years for a doping offense.

Pogba tested positive for testosterone after Juventus' game against Udinese on Aug. 20, 2023. He did not play in the match but was on the bench.

In a statement, Pogba confirmed he will appeal against the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and insisted he has never taken banned substances.

"I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping's decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect," Pogba said.

"I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me.

"When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.

"As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against.

"As a consequence of the decision announced today I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport."

Rooney's first management job came at Derby County, where he was head coach between January 2021 and June 2022.

Rooney then took over D.C. United in July 2022 before going to Birmingham.

Jude Bellingham Likely Out Three Weeks With Ankle Injury

Feb 12, 2024 9:53 PM

Jude Bellingham will likely be out three weeks due to a sprained ankle.

Bellingham suffered the injury after scoring two goals in Saturday's win by Real Madrid over Girona.

"We never think about those [players] who aren't here," Carlo Ancelotti said in a pre-match news conference in Leipzig on Monday. "It's more fair to think about those who are here. Without Bellingham, we've won four games out of four [this season]. Those who've replaced him have done well, whether it's Brahim [Díaz] or Joselu.

"Bellingham is a very good player -- like [Thibaut] Courtois,[Éder] Militão, [David] Alaba -- but tomorrow it's an opportunity to be even more motivated."
