Everton Hires Sam Allardyce As Manager

Nov 30, 2017 1:44 PM

Everton has officially hired Sam Allardyce as manager on a deal through June 2019.

Ronald Koeman was fired as manager more than five weeks ago.

Allardyce was approached by Everton three weeks ago but pulled out of talks when it was clear he wasn't their preferred choice. Everton had wanted to hire Marco Silva from Watford.

Allardyce, who has managed Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham Sunderland and Palace in the Premier League, has never been in charge of a team that has been relegated from the top division.

“The attraction of the club itself, the people I’ve known at the club – Peter Reid is one of my best mates, so are Andy Gray and Paul Bracewell whom I worked with at Sunderland – these people have always made me aware of just how special and unique a club Everton is and I feel really enthused and energised to come in as manager,” Allardyce said.

Spurs Interested In Buying West Ham's Manuel Lanzini

Nov 30, 2017 12:02 PM

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Manuel Lanzini of West Ham.

Mauricio Pochettino believes Lanzini would give Spurs more depth in midfield with his creativity.

Lanzini is under contract at West Ham until 2020 and David Moyes would be reluctant to lose one his key players in January with the club in the middle of a relegation battle.

Lanzini has impressed for the Hammers after joining initially on loan from Al-Jazira of the United Arab Emirates in the summer of 2015.

Real Madrid Opens Negotiations With David Luiz

Nov 29, 2017 9:58 AM

According to Radio Montecarlo, Real Madrid has opened negotiations with David Luiz about a January transfer.

Luiz would be the primary backup at center back behind Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, though he is versatile enough to play other positions.

The relationship between Luiz and Antonio Conte has deteriorated this season.

The suggested price would be €30 million though the main issue for Real Madrid is Luiz would not be eligible for the Champions League.

Nov 29, 2017 9:37 AM

Alan Pardew has been hired as West Bromwich Albion manager until 2020.

Pardew had been out of work since he was fired by Crystal Palace last December.

Pardew replaces Tony Pulis.

“I’m thrilled with the opportunity Albion have provided and looking forward to getting to work with what I consider to be a talented group of players,” Pardew told the club’s website.

“The immediate challenge will be to get the results we need to pull ourselves up the table. But I’m aware that while I’m joining one of the great, traditional clubs of English football, it is one determined to go forward in the Premier League. It’s an exciting opportunity to play a part in that ambition.”

Arsenal Rules Out Selling Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil In January

Nov 28, 2017 9:39 AM

Arsene Wenger has ruled out the possibility of Arsenal selling either Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil in January. Both players can leave on free transfers in the summer.

“I’m not the only one who can decide that. They have a say in that as well,” said Wenger."

Wenger was asked if he could, in fact, rule out a midseason departure. “Yeah, I rule it out. Look, I do not think every day about that. As long as they are here they have to give their best for the team and for the club. In my head, they stay until the end of the season. That’s the decision I took at the start of the season. Unless something unbelievable happens there’s no reason why that should change."

Sanchez was nearly sold to Manchester City in August. Ozil was previously expected to sign an extension with Arsenal but has now been strongly linked with Manchester United.

Wenger insists that no moves will take place until next summer. “In press conference you’re always confronted with many speculations,” he said. “For me, they stay until the end of the season. That’s what I decided at the start of the season. Will they stay longer? That’s impossible to answer today. I don’t know.”

Zinedine Zidane Open To Real Madrid Making January Signings

Nov 27, 2017 10:01 AM

Zinedine Zidane is open to Real Madrid adding to their squad during the January transfer window.

Real Madrid lost some of their depth with the departures of James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata and Pepe over the summer.

"I am just saying it could happen," Zidane said. "I am very happy with my squad, I don't want it to change, I don't want anyone to leave.

"But in football anything can happen. There are other people [at the club] apart from me when it comes to deciding things, and we can talk.

"When the market opens we will talk, but maybe nothing changes. For sure nobody is going to leave. We know we are able to sign in January, that is all."
