Emile Smith Rowe has signed a long-term deal with Arsenal and has also been given the No. 10 shirt.

Other clubs had been alerted to Smith Rowe’s potential availability while negotiations with Arsenal continued, and Aston Villa had bids of about £25 million and £30 million firmly rejected last month.

Smith Rowe has been with Arsenal since the age of nine.

“As we all saw last season, Emile is an intelligent player with excellent ability,” Mikel Arteta said. “His sharpness on the turn and exceptional vision have already made him a key player for us. His attitude and willingness to learn have also been very impressive. Huge credit to our team in our academy who have given Emile a great education and have worked superbly to help with his development through the age groups.”

AC Milan have signed Olivier Giroud from Chelsea. Giroud turned down a one-year extension with Chelsea in June.

"To all the Blues, to my team mates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments," Giroud said on Twitter. "I'm starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League have been magnificent."

Giroud left Arsenal for Chelsea in January 2018.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has completed a move to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, signing a five-year deal.

"I am very happy to be part of this great club that is Paris Saint-Germain,"Donnarumma said. "I feel ready to take on this new challenge, and continue to grow here. With Paris, I want to win as much as possible and give joy to the supporters."

He made his AC Milan debut at 16 in 2015 and has gone on to make 215 Serie A appearances. He left at the end of the 2020-21 season after failing to agree a new contract.

In five seasons at Milan, Donnarumma won Supercoppa Italiana in 2016 and was voted the league's best goalkeeper in his final campaign.

Lionel Messi and Barcelona have agreed to a new five-year deal with a significant pay reduction from his previous deal worth $594 million.

Messi had first expressed a desire to leave Barca last August after the 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. Messi grew more open to staying with the return of Joan Laporta as president in March. 

Messi first joined Barca's academy in 2000 and has gone on to play 778 games for the club, breaking Xavi Hernandez's appearance record last season.

Sergio Ramos has agreed to join Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal.

Ramos left Real Madrid when his contract expired in June.

Ramos had wanted a two-year deal. His wages at PSG are set to be lower than what he was earning in Spain and what he would have earned had he stayed with the club.
