Fire Appoint Raphael Wicky As Manager

Raphael Wicky has officially been appointed manager of the Chicago Fire.

Wicky managed FC Basel during a run to the round of 16 in the Champions League.

Wicky most recently managed the U.S. national team's U17 side.

"I know Raphael very well from our time together at FC Basel in Switzerland," said Chicago Fire FC sporting director Georg Heitz. "He is a man of high character who fits the philosophy and vision of this club. He has a fresh, modern approach to football. Raphael has a great appreciation and respect for the sport and because of his time on the pitch, including representing his country at a World Cup, he is able to communicate extremely well with players.

The 54-year-old interim manager was originally slated to stay on for 2 matches, though the club have now won 4 matches in a row.

“Under [Flick] as head coach, the on-field development has been outstanding, both in terms of the quality of our play and the results achieved,” said the club’s CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. “We set a new record in the 28-year history of the Champions League with six wins in six group-stage matches, and in the Bundesliga we have returned to touching distance of the top of the table.”

Carlo Ancelotti Appointed Everton Manager, Watches Arsenal Match

Carlo Ancelotti was officially appointed as Everton manager through the 2023-2024 season.

Ancelotti, who was sacked from Napoli earlier this season, replaces Marco Silva.

"This is a great club with a rich history and a very passionate fan base," Ancelotti said. "There is a clear vision from the Owner and the Board to deliver success and trophies. That is something that appeals to me as a manager and I am thrilled at the prospect of being able to work with everybody at the Club to help make that vision a reality."

Ancelotti was reportedly in the stands watching Everton's 0-0 draw against Arsenal.

Fire To Hire Georg Heitz As Sporting Director

Diego Valeri signed a mult-year extension with the Porltand Timbers.

The 33-year-old Valeri joined the team in 2013, and leads the franchise in goals, assists, and points.

“Diego is a Timbers legend and we couldn’t be happier that he and his family will remain in the Rose City,” said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for the Timbers. “Not only has Diego been a leader in MLS over his career, he has become a local icon who is tremendously important to the club, the fans and the City of Portland. We look forward to raising another Cup with him.”

Michael Bradley Re-Signs With Toronto FC

Michael Bradley, who was out of contract this offseason, has re-signed with Toronto FC.

The deal would reportedly see Bradley out until the end of his career.

"I feel so attached to the city of Toronto, the club, the team. I love it here and I am really proud of what we've been able to do over the past six years. Beyond the success, I am equally as proud of the mentality and identity this club has taken on. The relationship between the club and the city, the club and the fans are both very special and I'm proud to have played a part in that," said Bradley.

Bradley has made 200 league and cup appearances for the club.

Ansu Fati signed a new contract with Barcelona that includes a release clause of $188 million.

The 17-year-old Fati is now signed through the 2022 season.
