Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of Argentina's World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Venezuela through injury.

Aguero suffered a calf injury during Manchester City's 3-1 win over West Ham.

Aguero could also face a domestic ban if the English FA decides to pursue retrospective action after an apparent elbow on West Ham defender Winston Reid.

Real Madrid is not sure when Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will return from their injuries.

Ronaldo will miss their La Liga opener against Real Sociedad but they're hopeful of him playing next week.

Ronaldo is still working his way back from a knee injury.

"I cannot give you a concrete date as to when Ronaldo will be back. He has returned to the pitch and is training with the ball, which is a good sign," Zinedine Zidane said in a media conference on Saturday.

"The most important thing is the way he feels. He could be ready to make his return against Celta. Next week will be important for his recovery.

"He is desperate to return as soon as possible. I am happy to see him training again.

"We have not thought about asking Portugal not to call him up for the international games yet. We have time to think about that after the game [against Sociedad]."

Hugo Lloris will miss four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League opener against Everton.

Spurs said on their website: “Our captain left the field during the first half at Goodison Park and our medical team will continue to monitor his progress during his rehabilitation to determine when he will be ready to return to training.”

Lloris will miss matches against Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Stoke and Sunderland and the opening group match of the Champions League.

Daniel Sturridge is to sit out Saturday's preseason friendly with Barcelona, the club have announced.

Sturridge has been left out of Jurgen Klopp's squad at Wembley as a precaution due to an issue with his hip.

A post on Liverpool's official Twitter account read: "Daniel Sturridge has been left out of today's #LFC squad as a precaution due to a slight hip issue."
