Bastian Schweinsteiger has suffered a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee that could rule him out for the remainder of the season with Manchester United and for Euro 2016.

Schweinsteiger suffered the injury during training with Germany on Tuesday.

The statement said: “World Cup winner Schweinsteiger sustained the injury to his right knee on Tuesday afternoon toward the end of the training session.”

Schweinsteiger had only just returned from a knee injury that ruled him from 9 January.

Raheem Sterling could miss the remainder of the season due to a groin injury he suffered against Manchester United.

Sterling is "totally focused" on his recovery and being available for England in Euro 2016.

England’s opening match is against Russia on 11 June.

The injury occurred after 26 minutes of City's 1-0 loss against United.

Sterling has been told he will need six weeks to heal the strain.

Petr Cech will miss the next three to four weeks with a "serious calf injury."

Cech was injured in the last moments of Wednesday's 2-1 loss to Swansea when he ran up the pitch for a corner as the Gunners pushed for an equalizer.

Arsene Wenger said Cech also had a minor groin injury before the game that may have hampered him as well, but that he did not regret the decision to play him.

"He declared himself 100 percent fit [before the game], and then you have to trust the player," Wenger told a news conference. "He's 33 years old, and he knows his body.

"You want the players to be tough enough to play sometimes through little pains because you're never completely perfect in March before a game. So he took that very well, and I respect that."

Karim Benzema will miss up to a month with a right leg muscle injury.

Benzema will miss Real Madrid's return match in the Champions League against Roma.

Benzema should be fit to play Barcelona in La Liga on April 2nd.

Benzema was substituted at half-time in Madrid's 1-0 home loss to Atletico Madrid because of the muscle injury.
