Harry Kane Could Return From Ankle Injury To Start Against Arsenal

Nov 4, 2016 12:28 PM

Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that Harry Kane could start in Sunday’s north London derby against Arsenal.

Kane has been out with ankle ligament damage since the middle of September.

Earlier in the week, Pochettino was more inclined to use Kane as a substitute but he returned to full training on Thursday and it was clear that he had given his manager something to think about with his work.

“Harry will be in the squad,” Pochettino said. “I can confirm he will be available to be selected and then, I need to decide whether to start him or put him on the bench. I am happy after Thursday. He had a very good training session. He is fit.

“Always, Harry is important. In the last two seasons, he has been very important for us – he was the top scorer in the Premier League. For us, it’s very good news. It’s good that he will be back.”

Liverpool Loses Danny Ings For Remainder Of Season

Nov 2, 2016 3:50 PM

Danny Ings will miss the remainder of Liverpool's season after suffering ligament damage to his right knee.

The 24-year-old spent the majority of last season out injured after tearing the ACL in his left knee and was due to undergo surgery in London on Wednesday while Ings also suffered long-term knee problems while at Burnley.

“To say we are gutted would be an understatement; he is such a great boy and has worked so hard that he deserves better luck than this," said Jurgen Klopp.

“It is typical of Danny’s personality, on and off the pitch, that he picked up this injury to his knee when courageously trying to win the ball back for his team by making a tackle.

“But it is this same personality that means he will come back as good and as strong from this latest setback as he has done in the past.

“I’m told the likely lay off is anywhere from between seven to nine months. He is mentally strong, physically strong and will have the very best treatment and rehab possible to make sure when he returns he is ready to play for us at the level we know he is capable of.”
