Jordan Morris Signs With Seattle Sounders

Jordan Morris has signed with the Seattle Sounders, his hometown club.

Morris considered signing with Werder Bremen.

Seattle and MLS were so intent on acquiring Morris that they offered him the richest homegrown player contract in the league's history in November.

Morris has been a standout at Stanford over the course of three seasons. He led the Cardinal to the 2015 national championship, scoring 13 goals in 18 appearances along the way. Morris also claimed the 2015 MAC Hermann award, given to top collegiate player in the country.

Branislav Ivanovic Agrees To One-Year Extension With Chelsea

Chelsea and Branislav Ivanovic have agreed upon a one-year extension.

Ivanovic's existing contract was due to expire this summer and he was free to talk to overseas clubs this month.

Ivanovic was receiving interest to join AC Milan in the summer.

Ivanovic initially was seeking a longer deal from Chelsea, but the club only offers one-year deals to players 30 or older.

Nacho Monreal Signs Extension With Arsenal Through 2019

Nacho Monreal has signed an extension with Arsenal through 2019.

Monreal has become first choice at left-back since his arrival from Malaga in 2013.

Monreal will turn 30 in February and had 18 months left on his contract.

“What has been important is regularity of his performances, the fact he has improved every year since he arrived,” said Arsene Wenger.

Earthquakes Sign Simon Dawkins As Designated Player

The San Jose Earthquakes have signed Jamaican international midfielder Simon Dawkins as a designated player.

Dawkins, who spent spent two seasons on loan with the Earthquakes from 2011-12, arrives in San Jose after three years in England, where he spent the past two seasons with Derby County of the English Championship.

"We're delighted to welcome Simon back to San Jose," said general manager John Doyle said of the 28-year-old Dawkins. "He has a tremendous amount of experience in England as well as internationally. Simon is also proven player in Major League Soccer and helped the club win the Supporters' Shield in 2012. He will be a key part of our attack."
