Walcott Could Miss Beginning Of Arsenal's 14-15 Season

Apr 29, 2014 11:10 AM

Theo Walcott could miss the beginning of the 14-15 season despite his recovery from a knee injury progressing according to schedule.

Walcott was ruled out of the remainder of Arsenal's campaign and the World Cup for England when he ruptured the ACL in his left knee in January.

"I want to be back quickly, of course -- but safely, too," said Walcott. "I want to try and be back for the early part of next season. That is the goal, so there will be a lot of hard work throughout the summer and during the World Cup.

"It has nearly been four months now, and my recovery has been on track so far. At the moment I'm working on muscle strength and building muscle in my quad.

"I don't see any point in being down in the dumps about the injury because it has already happened -- and there are a lot of people with worse problems in the world."

Gonzalao Higuain Escapes Scary Ankle Injury With Minor Sprain

Apr 26, 2014 11:51 PM

Gonzalao Higuain had to be stretchered off in Napoli's draw with Inter on Saturday.

Marco Andreolli leapt to block one of Higuain's efforts late in the match.

There were initial fears that he might not be able to recover in time to appear in the World Cup this summer for Argentina, however, reports coming out of Italy suggest nothing is broken and that it is simply a minor sprain.

"Gonzalo Higuain has a trauma to the right ankle, which will be evaluated over the next few days," the club said in a statement.
