Jozy Altidore has been declared fit and available to play for the United States on Tuesday against Belgium in their Round of 16 match.

Altidore is recovering from an injured hamstring suffered in the USA's opening match against Ghana.

Neymar has a swollen thigh, which puts his status for Brazil's quarterfinals match against Colombia in question. 

"We have four or five days to get Neymar in shape for the next match. It is a big problem, his thigh is swollen," said Luiz Felipe Scolari speaking after the game.

"I remember when I was Portugal coach and, in the fifth minute of the game, Netherlands defender Khalid Boulahrouz broke Cristiano Ronaldo in half and he had to go off 10 minutes later.

"When I saw Neymar after the game today I remembered that. Some people say Neymar falls too easily. He fell three times."

Nigel de Jong will likely miss the Netherlands' quarterfinal match on Saturday against Costa Rica due to a groin strain.

"De Jong had a small groin strain and I was forced to substitute him," Louis van Gaal explained. 

"I don't know if he will be available for the quarter-final, though to be honest it's very unlikely he will be able to play the next match.

"He is one of my most important players, so this is an enormous loss for us."

Vincent Kompany is doubtful for Tuesday's match between Belgium and the United States.

Kompany, captain of Belgium, has a recurring groin injury.

''We will do all within our powers to make sure he comes back at 100 percent,'' Marc Wilmots said Friday.

Wilmots considers him his ''right-hand man'' on the pitch.

The United States are hoping to have Jozy Altidore back from his hamstring injury for the knockout stage match against Belgium.

"We are very optimistic. Every day's a big step forward with Jozy," said Jurgen Klinsmann.

The United States don't have a similar option to Altidore as a reserve, so they have been playing with Clint Dempsey up front.

Altidore was spotted running during the United States' training session on Friday.

Sergio Agüero has been ruled out for the rest of the World Cup with a grade 1 tear in his hamstring.

Agüero has been part of Argentina's potent attack.

Jurgen Klinsmann has confirmed that Jozy Altidore will not play for the United States on Thursday against Germany.

Altidore suffered a hamstring injury in the United States' opening match of the World Cup against Ghana.

Altidore has been hopeful of returning at some point in the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo wore a brace on his left knee during Portugal's training session on Friday.

Ronaldo had been doubtful to face Germany in their opening Group G game but declared himself fit to play and was largely ineffective.

Earlier in the week, goalkeeper Beto said he believed Ronaldo would be "100 percent fit" to face the U.S.

Ronaldo's status for the remainder of the World Cup has been the subject of many rumors.

Portugal's goalkeeper, Beto, is insisting Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit to play the United States on Sunday.

Ronaldo has been dealing with a knee issue for weeks and there had been reports that Portugal's doctor advised him that his career was at risk by continuing to play.

"Ronaldo didn't leave training early," said Beto. "He finished his training at the same time as the rest of the players," Beto said at a press conference. 

"Cristiano is 100 percent fit to play. Every match he starts to play, it's because he's fit to play.

"He loves football but his body is the most important thing for him, to be fit, to be healthy so if he starts the match it's because he's ready, he's fit."

Jozy Altidore will miss the United States' match on Sunday against Portugal with a strained left hamstring.

"He will not be available for Sunday's game, but we are hopeful he will be available in the tournament," U.S. Soccer spokesman Michael Kammarman said of the 24-year-old.

Altidore left the Americans' World Cup opener against Ghana after straining his left hamstring in the 21st minute.
