David Silva left Manchester City's 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on a stretch with a recurrence of a long-standing ankle problem.

Manuael Pellegrini confirmed it was the same ankle and a similar injury to the one that kept Silva out of last week's game against Sunderland.

"He played the last game with pain, which is why it was impossible for him to play against Sunderland," Pellegrini said. "It is the same ankle, it started with a kick some weeks ago and it has not gone away.

"It is hard to tell how serious the injury might be until we have the doctor's assessment tomorrow; hopefully it might be a short-term one."
