Maurizio Sarri: Juventus Is 'Crowning Achievement' Of Coaching Career

Jun 20, 2019 3:20 PM

Maurizio Sarri discussed his excitement at managing Juventus, saying it was a step above Chelsea.

It's special to be here. It's the best squad in Italy. I'm coming from Chelsea, which has an inferior history to that of Juventus. It's another step forward for me," said Sarri.

Sarri also added that while Italian is more tactically advanced than England, Serie A could learn from the Premier League in updating the overall stadium experience.

"Going around English stadiums, you realise how inadequate our arenas are. There needs to be a cultural shift, as you turn behind you on the bench and are surrounded by children. I think in terms of club organisation and tactically on the field, we still have the upper hand compared to England."

“I never had the chance to express myself. They never involved me. The first year that can happen but by the second [year] I understood what they wanted to do … They knew of my desire to offer a lot to this squad but they never wanted it. They kept me out of everything. It’s a day that I hoped never would have come," said Totti.

“For eight years here, since the Americans came, they’ve done everything they could to sweep us aside,” Totti said.
