The United States and Mexico submitted a joint bid Friday to co-host the 2027 Women's World Cup.

Spain, Portugal, Morocco To Host 2030 World Cup

Oct 4, 2023 1:22 PM

The 2030 World Cup has been awarded to Morocco, Portugal and Spain, while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will also host the opening three matches.

The Morocco, Spain and Portugal bid is a collaboration between Uefa and the African federation, Caf.

Conmebol, the South American confederation, has not hosted a World Cup since 2014 and was looking to commemorate the centenary of the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930.

The 2034 World Cup will be staged in a host country (or countries) represented by the Asian or Oceania confederations. Saudi Arabia is considered the likely favorite to win.

SoFi Stadium Field Currently Too Narrow To Host 2026 World Cup Final

Mar 17, 2023 9:09 AM

SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles was scheduled to host the 2026 World Cup Final, but its field is currently too narrow to comply with FIFA's standards.

In order to host matches, seats would have to be removed to widen the field by 60 feet. This would bring the stadium capacity below 70,000, which is on the smaller end for the World Cup.

The 1994 World Cup final was also played in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl.

If the final is moved, it could be played in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium.

"Revenues rose to a record $7.5 billion [in 2022] in a period that was hit by COVID-19. When I arrived, FIFA reserves stood at around $1bn, today they are at almost $4bn," Infantino said.

Argentina Beats France To Win 2022 World Cup

Dec 18, 2022 2:32 PM

Argentina defeated France 4-2 in penalties to win the 2022 World Cup.

In the first half, Argentina took control of the match with a Lionel Messi penalty kick won by Angel di Maria, and a second goal soon after scored by Di Maria and assisted by Alexis Mac Allister.

The match pivoted in an instant when France won a penalty when Nicolas Otamendi fouled Randal Kolo Muani in the box. The penalty was converted calmly by Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe scored again one minute later after Kingsley Coman stole the ball from Messi in the midfield to create a counter for France.

France enjoyed the better of the run of play until the match went into extra time.

Messi scored another go-ahead goal for Argentina in the 109th minute, looking like they had the match won yet again. But France equalized after a penalty kick was awarded from a Gonzalo Montiel hand ball.

In penalty kicks, Argentina made their first four with France missing twice to give Messi his elusive World Cup.

Messi won the Golden Ball while Mbappe's hat-trick sealed the Golden Boot.
