Cristiano Ronaldo Receives Red Card, Could Miss Old Trafford Match

Sep 19, 2018 6:14 PM

Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off with a red card in Juventus' Champions League match against Valencia.

Ronaldo appeared to put his hand on the head of the Valencia defender Jeison Murillo, who fell to the ground. The referee Felix Brych gave Ronaldo a straight red card after discussing the incident with his assistant behind the goal.

Ronaldo may miss a return to Old Trafford to play Manchester United next month.

Ronaldo had never received a red card in 154 Champions League matches.

FIFA Attempting To Limit Transfer Market

Sep 17, 2018 1:42 PM

FIFA is planning to push for substantial changes to soccer's transfer business, which they hope would limit the prices clubs could pay for players and diminish the role of agents in the market.

Gianni Infantino had vowed to take on the transfer market.

FIFA's proposal plans for a new central clearinghouse that would be responsible for processing payments for all cross-border transfers, including commissions paid to agents. Those fees could be capped at 5 percent of a player’s total salary, or of the transfer fee.

David Moyes Interested In United States Job

Sep 17, 2018 11:59 AM

David Moyes has legitimate interest in becoming the next manager of the United States.

Moyes has been out of management since saving West Ham United from relegation last season.

"I would have to consider the USA job if I was approached because it's one of the big nations in world football, with massive growth potential," Moyes told the Sun. "They have a constantly improving league. You've got David Beckham's team coming into Miami and Nashville as well, so if it came up, I would have a real interest."

USMNT general manager Ernie Stewart plans on hiring a manager by the end of the year.

PSG Contacts Real Madrid Over Constant Neymar Speculation

Sep 14, 2018 5:40 PM

Paris Saint-Germain has reached out to Real Madrid as they've become "frustrated" by constant speculation about a potential move for Neymar.

Neymar moved to PSG from Barcelona for €222 million last summer.

"We don't like it at all and we have spoken to Real Madrid," Nasser Al-Khelaifi said.

"It's a bit frustrating, it's not fair that other clubs talk about our players. We have a good relationship and they respect PSG, and I hope that's the truth. We respect Real Madrid, their president, Florentino Perez, but I think that it's important for everyone not to work behind the scenes.

"I don't know if he understands me. If there is something, we speak, speak with Florentino Perez or whatever it is and we speak about what we like and what we don't like. It's what we want with all clubs, not just Real Madrid. Fighting amongst each other is not the way PSG works and I hope other clubs don't do that to us."

Maurizio Sarri Open To Chelsea Hiring John Terry As Assistant Coach

Sep 14, 2018 5:22 PM

Maurizio Sarri is open to hiring John Terry as an assistant coach with Chelsea.

Terry spent last season at Aston Villa.

Terry has been maintaining his fitness at Chelsea’s Cobham training complex and is working towards his Uefa A licence.

“Yes, of course, but the last time I spoke with him, a week ago, he told me he wants to play for another season," said Sarri. "But I don’t know the situation now. Chelsea is his home, of course. For sure, he would be a point of reference for me. For everybody here, I think. His presence alone [would be]. This is John Terry’s home.

“It’s up to him. I am very open with him because he is the history of the club. He has won everything with the club, so it’s up to him. But I don’t know [if it is possible]. He told me a lot of things, that he wants to play, so I’d have to speak to him again.”

City Not Concerned Over Raheem Sterling's Extension Talks

Sep 14, 2018 9:59 AM

Raheem Sterling is in the final two years of his contract with Manchester City with reports suggesting he wants a £100,000-a-week pay rise to sign a new deal.

Sources say there are no concerns within City over Sterling's extensions talk.

"It's well-known that we're delighted with him and would like him to continue," Pep Guardiola said. "The club knows my opinion and we share that and after that it is [up to] the club and Raheem's agent. I'm outside, I'm not involved.

"Sometimes this kind of thing needs time. It's important that Raheem and his people know how delighted we are with him and after that maybe it happens or maybe not."

Pep Guardiola Insists Kevin De Bruyne Not For Sale

Sep 14, 2018 9:57 AM

Pep Guardiola insists Kevin de Bruyne doesn't have a release clause in his contract but says he wouldn't be for sale anyways.

De Bruyne signed a new contract in January that keeps him with Manchester City until 2023.

"I don't know what his release clause is," he told a news conference. "The journalist asked if we'd sell for €250 million and I said no. But it's my personal opinion. In England there are no release clauses, you have to negotiate for the club."
