Shakira's Nephew Makes Debut For Gerard Pique-Owned Team

Oct 22, 2019 2:34 PM

The nephew of Shakira, Tarik Antonio Mebarak, made his debut for Andorra FC over the weekend.

The club are owned by Shakira's partner Gerard Pique.

The 19-year-old played a full 90 minutes for the third-division side.

"He plays as a right back but I played him as a winger because we are talking about a player who is quick and powerful. He is physically a beast and because of his speed, the pitch seems too small for him. He told me that as a young boy he played as a No. 9 and as a winger. Without a doubt, he can bring a lot to us," said Andorra FC manager Carlos Sanchez.

Oct 22, 2019 2:17 PM

Chris Wondolowski will return to the San Jose Earthquakes for one more season.

The 36-year-old striker scored 15 goals last season, breaking Landon Donovan's all-time goal scoring record in the process.

"I'm very excited to be back for one more year. Knowing how much fun it is in the locker room, the team unity that we have and where this team is going, I wanted to be a part of it. I love this game. I love going out to practice. We're a family. Even right now, it's nice to have a couple days off, but I'm ready to get started again. When I do decide to step away from the game, my goal is to remain a part of the Earthquakes organization and help the team any way I can," said Wondolowski.

Granit Xhaka Responds To Patrice Evra Criticism

Oct 22, 2019 2:13 PM

Patrice Evra criticized Arsenal following their 1-0 loss to Sheffield United, calling the team "my babies."

"I used to call them 'my babies' 10 years ago, and they are still, when I look at them and think they are 'my babies,' that's the truth -- I'm not being disrespectful when I say that," said Evra.

Granit Xhaka hit back at Evra for speaking out of turn.

"We have to stop speaking about mental [issues] or bull---- like this ... A lot of people speak too much. I hear that the first time he [Evra] speaks something against us. I have a lot of respect about him, because he was a great player. But you have to be careful what you say in those situations as well. For me it's strange because they were in the same situation as us, they were players as well," said Xhaka.

Landmark Study Reveals Link Between Soccer, Brain Disease

Oct 21, 2019 1:38 PM

A 22-month research project by the University of Glasgow’s Brain Injury Group discovered former soccer players are three and a half times more likely to suffer from dementia and other serious neurological diseases.

Specifically, the study finds a five-fold increase in the risk of Alzheimer's, a four-fold increase in Motor Neurone disease and a two-fold increase in Parkinson’s.

The report was unable to establish whether the causes was due to repeated concussions, heading older leather footballs, or some other factor.

Many former players and doctors have been critical of the slow response of the Professional Football Association to the problem of dementia over the past decade.

Harry Kane: This Is The 'Toughest Time' Since I've Been At Tottenham

Oct 21, 2019 1:28 PM

Harry Kane opened up about the struggles he's faced at Tottenham this season, saying it's the most difficult year since he's been at the club.

"It's hard to put a finger on exactly what's wrong. Sometimes when you're having a run of form like this, things don't always go your way in games. It's about sticking together and if we win tomorrow night that can kick start us. It's probably the toughest time since I've been here. It's just another challenge though. The road to success will always have bumps and this is just one of them," said Kane.

Tottenham have won just 3 matches this season. The team sit seventh on the table.
