Marcus Rashford hinted strongly at wanting to remain at Barcelona after scoring the opening goal in Sunday's 2-0 El Clasico victory over Real Madrid that sealed back-to-back LaLiga titles for the Catalans.
"I am not a magician, but if I was, I would stay," Rashford told reporters when asked about his future. "This is a wonderful team, they're going to win so much in the future; to be a part of that would be special."
The 28-year-old England forward's loan from Manchester United expires next month, but Barcelona hold an option to make the transfer permanent for approximately $35 million. Rashford signed a five-year deal with United in July 2023 running through June 2028, reportedly earning between £300,000 and £325,000 per week.
Rashford opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a free kick whipped into the top corner beyond Thibaut Courtois, the first direct free kick Barcelona have scored in the Clasico since Lionel Messi in 2012.
"I wasn't going to shoot," Rashford admitted. "When I put the ball down, I didn't see the angle. I was going to cross. But everyone told me to shoot, so I hyped myself up a bit."
Sunday's triumph gave Rashford his first league title in any country. He has contributed eight goals and seven assists in LaLiga this season.
Speaking to ESPN after the match, Rashford was measured about his next move.
"This is the perfect way I want it to end. At the end of the season we will see."
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick identified 100 points as the team's next target, with three games remaining. The milestone has been reached only twice in LaLiga history.
