Lamine Yamal appeared to direct a pointed social media message at Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham on Monday, one day after Barcelona clinched the LaLiga title with a 2-0 victory over their rivals. The 17-year-old posted an image of himself celebrating in the stands with the caption "Talk is cheap," accompanied by seven crying emojis.
The message appeared to reference a post Bellingham made in October, when the England midfielder wrote "Talk is cheap. HALA MADRID SIEMPRE!!!" following Madrid's 2-1 LaLiga win over Barcelona. That post came days after Yamal had claimed Madrid "rob and complain" in the buildup to that Clasico.
Barcelona went on to win 23 of their next 25 league games following that October defeat, finishing 14 points clear of Madrid with three matches remaining. Sunday's victory was the club's seventh Clasico win in eight matches since coach Hansi Flick took charge in the summer of 2024.
Yamal missed Sunday's match with a hamstring injury that has ended his season, but joined teammates on the pitch to celebrate after the final whistle.
The exchange adds another chapter to the growing rivalry between the two young stars, who also appear together in a recent Adidas commercial alongside actor Timothee Chalamet, Trinity Rodman, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Alessandro Del Piero. Yamal and Bellingham begrudgingly are forced to be teammates in the min-film.
Yamal is the world's most valuable soccer player, according to TransferMarkt, while Bellingham currently ranks sixth.
Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres scored the goals that secured Barcelona's back-to-back LaLiga titles under Flick.
