Diego Godin To Leave Atletico Madrid Over Summer, May Join Inter

May 7, 2019 9:16 PM

Diego Godin said he will leave Atletico Madrid this summer after 9 seasons with the club.

"This isn't just a club for me, it's also been my family and it's very hard to say goodbye," said Godin.

"We are here to say goodbye to an Atletico legend. You have been a vital part of this great era for the club, with your efforts and your goals, like the one which gave us the title at the Nou Camp. You have fought in a thousand battles and defended the club's shirt in every game and you have worn the captain's armband. Wherever you end up, Atletico wishes you a lot of luck. Atletico is your family, the Wanda Metropolitano is your home," added Atleti president Enrique Cerezo.

Godin is rumored to be joining Inter.

Martin Odegaard Expected To Sign With Bayern

Dec 17, 2014 1:10 PM

Martin Odegaard, a 16-year-old Norwegian prodigy, looks set to sign with Bayern Munich.

Odegaard’s father, Hans Erik, was a footballer himself, playing for Stromsgodset and Sandefjord. He is now assistant manager of Mjondalen, who were promoted to the Premier League last season for the first time in 22 years.

The last six months have felt like an extended marketing exercise. Odegaard has done at least a dozen major interviews and has trained with or at least visited Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Steven Gerrard Considering Contract Offer From Liverpool

Dec 1, 2014 12:45 PM

Steven Gerrard wants to continue his career next season, but he's currently without a contract with Liverpool.

Liverpool currently has a deal on the table that Gerrard is considering as he faces an uncertain place in the starting XI.

“The latest is he has been offered a contract here and at this moment in time that is where it is at,” said Brendan Rodgers.

“In what he has done in his 16 years here he is a man who deserves the utmost respect and time to consider that.

“It is a big move not just in his life but in terms of committing where his next contract is going to be.

“There are probably many things Steven would have to think about in a decision like this but it certainly won’t be money.

“I have spoken to him often enough and at length and that won’t be the case.

“Between now and the end of the season he deserves that opportunity to have a think of where it is at but one thing is clear, I love working with Steven Gerrard.

“He is arguably the best player who has ever played in the Premier League, I have enjoyed every minute of working with him here and I hope that continues.

“But I need to give him the opportunity to take as long as it takes in order for him to decide what he wants to do next.

“I saw some things yesterday which were unfortunate about a rift between he and I but if there were two words I would use to describe our relationship it would be ‘honesty’ and ‘respect’.”

Didier Drogba Signs One-Year Deal With Chelsea

Jul 26, 2014 10:13 PM

Didier Drogba has re-signed with Chelsea on a one-year deal.

The 36-year-old Drogba was available on a free transfer from Galatasaray.

"If I bring him back, and the decision has to be made soon, it is because as a player he has the qualities to make the team stronger,” José Mourinho said before the move. “Because we know his heart is pushing him to where he feels he belongs, we are thinking about the possibility [of a deal]. We feel that Didier belongs to us.

“We want to win matches and win titles and Didier is one of the best strikers in Europe,” said Mourinho. “He is still very adapted to the needs of the Premier League and we are thinking about it in a non-emotional way.”

Atleti, Arsenal Interested In Signing Guillermo Ochoa

Jun 27, 2014 2:47 AM

Atlético Madrid is interested in signing Guillermo Ochoa, who is currently without a club and is starting in goal for Mexico in the World Cup.

Arsenal is also interested in Ochoa to compete with Wojciech Szczęsny.

Ochoa was forced to leave his former club, Ajaccio after they were relegated and the report goes on to suggest that he could sign with another French side in order to obtain his French passport in two years and be an EU-player.

Atletico Madrid have two non-European roster spots that could clear up, as Miranda has just filed and could still leave to Manchester United, while Gimenez could go on a season-long loan after his performance in the 2014 World Cup.
