Marco Reus Signs Extension With Dortmund Through 2019

Feb 11, 2015 12:55 PM

Marco Reus has signed an extension with Borussia Dortmund through 2019 that removes his release clause.

Reus could previously be acquired this summer for just €25 million with Real Madrid and Barcelona linked to a bid.

Reus said on Facebook that he had made the decision to stay with his hometown club after listening to his heart.

He wrote: "I am very much looking forward to the future at BVB with our outstanding fans backing us. My heart has decided. Let's get it started. We want to achieve a lot of things. Not only this season."

In an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten, Reus added: "When I signed for Dortmund, I said that I want to achieve great things with the club. I have the feeling that it's not over yet, especially given our difficult situation right now.

"I stand by my words. You win and you lose together. It's also a decision for life. That's why it took me so long to decide."

Philippe Coutinho Signs Extension With Liverpool Through 2020

Feb 2, 2015 8:20 PM

Philippe Coutinho has agreed terms on a new contract to 2020 at Liverpool.

Coutinho joined Liverpool for £8.5 million from Inter two years ago and Brendan Rodgers is bullish on his ability to become a world class midfielder like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

“We have seen young Phil come into his own over the last couple of months purely because of the movement up front,” Rodgers said. “He is the type of player who is creative and looks for the last pass but for that you need the movement in front of the ball and people to penetrate in behind. At the beginning of the season we didn’t quite have that in the team so he was having longer on the ball and maybe getting caught on it more.

“But you can see he is in a real good moment. He is playing a lot of games and we are trying to manage him but his performances are at a really high level which is great to see because he’s a little magician with the ball.

“His courage and bravery to get on the ball is fantastic. If he can continue to improve, and there are areas where he can improve like his goalscoring, then he can get into that bracket of being world class.”
