Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool Has Become More Attractive To Transfers

Apr 22, 2017 1:07 PM

Jürgen Klopp has said Liverpool will be a more attractive proposition to transfer targets this summer. Klopp added that positive talks have already taken place.

The Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt and Leipzig midfielder Naby Keïta are among those on Klopp’s wishlist.

“I would say together with Tottenham the average age of the team is such that there’s still a lot to come. They are obviously a few steps ahead but they have played longer together. We feel in a good way and, if a player wants to be part of this way, then it’s easier to make this decision this year than last year. But actually not a lot of players told me last year: ‘I don’t want to be part of this, but let me see what happens next year and then we can talk again.’ It’s more my feeling than anything I could say about what a player thinks. But the talks we’ve had so far are very positive. That doesn’t mean it will all work out but they are really positive and they all see the progress. That’s good.”

Liverpool has an excellent chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season.

Real Madrid Rejects $53.5M Bid From Liverpool For Marco Asensio

Apr 20, 2017 6:42 PM

Real Madrid have rejected a €50 million bid from Liverpool for Marco Asensio.

Real Madrid have no intention of selling Asensio, who scored in their win on Tuesday in the Champions League against Bayern.

Zinedine Zidane is high on Asensio and is willing to let Real Madrid sell James Rodriguez in the summer in order to clear space for him.

Liverpool Uninterested In Joe Hart

Apr 20, 2017 1:30 PM

Jurgen Klopp has ruled out the possibility of Liverpool signing Joe Hart this summer.

Hart is currently on loan from Manchester City with Torino.

Liverpool has an uncertain goalkeeper situation with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

"You ask about goalkeepers but you don’t say the name. Is it about Joe Hart? We don’t usually talk about these sort of things but in this particular case I think we can. He is a fantastic goalkeeper, the goalkeeper of the English national team, highest quality, but we have highest-quality goalkeepers. It is not for us in this moment and hopefully not in the future – not because of Joe but because we already have two strong goalkeepers.

“Danny Ward is at Huddersfield and playing a brilliant season. He is our player so we will bring him back so there is competition. The young ones have made really big steps, Caoimhin Kelleher and Kamil Grabara, and that is really good. I understand the question but I cannot give the answer probably a few people want but we think about it all the time.”

City To Make Leonardo Bonucci Top Priority

Apr 20, 2017 1:14 PM

Manchester City are preparing a fresh pursuit of Leonardo Bonucci of Juventus, making him their top defensive target.

Pep Guardiola has long been enamored by Bonucci.

Bonucci signed a contract extension until 2021 with Juve in December, but he hinted last week that he could now be prepared to make a move to England after telling So Foot that the Premier League "fascinates" him.

City could face competition for the defender's signature from Chelsea.

Bonucci had a heated argument with Massimiliano Allegri in February but they've since claimed to settle the issue.

John Terry To Leave Chelsea After Season

Apr 17, 2017 8:44 PM

Chelsea confirmed that John Terry will leave the club after the current season. Terry has been with the club for 22 seasons.

Terry hasn't played in the Premier League since November and had expressed interest in playing elsewhere. No MLS clubs are interested, however, in signing Terry.

Chelsea expects Terry to eventually return to the club in a non-playing capacity.

Announcing the decision, Terry told the club's official website: "After 22 years there is so much to say and so many people to thank at this great football club. From coaches, teammates and staff to the fans who have given me so much support down the years, I can't thank you enough. There will be opportunities for me to speak further about this over the coming weeks.

"I will decide on my future in due course, but for now I am committed to helping the team achieve success this season.

Eden Hazard Admits 'Personal Ambitions' For Other Clubs

Apr 17, 2017 10:59 AM

Eden Hazard has admitted that he has "personal ambitions to play for other clubs."

Hazard has long been linked to Real Madrid.

"When it's not PSG [Paris Saint-Germain], it's Real. And then perhaps it'll be Bayern [Munich]... Bizarrely, last year, there was no one!

"There are always personal ambitions to play for other clubs, dreams. But I try to focus on the present. As I said, I first have things to finish with Chelsea this year. Then, I'll go on holiday. We'll see after that. I have a contract until 2020. For the moment, I'm here, I'm good."

Hazard has rediscovered his form under Antonio Conte.

"He drives me mad sometimes on the side of the pitch," Hazard said of Conte. "The coach is always shouting, putting the players back in position. It's also that which has made us succeed this season: it's that we give everything during games."

Jurgen Klopp Takes Barca's Interest In Coutinho As 'Positive'

Apr 17, 2017 10:57 AM

Jurgen Klopp is unfazed by interest Barcelona has in Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho signed a new five-year deal with Liverpool in January.

Liverpool have reportedly told Barcelona that Coutinho won't be for sale this summer.

"Actually, I think it's positive when there is interest," Klopp said. "It shows it's good. I am not concerned because I think Phil fits really well and comfortably here.

"He had a difficult time with injury, coming back fighting for shape, I would say. That's normal. In the last three games, you can see immediately, when he is in a little bit of shape, how big the difference is he can have in a game.

"That's wonderful for us. I am not concerned, actually, because we give the boys enough perspective that they really want to be part of this for the next few years."

Isco Continues To Want To Remain With Real Madrid

Apr 15, 2017 7:16 PM

Isco perhaps played his best match with Real Madrid in their 3-2 win over Sporting Gijon, scoring twice including a last-minute winner.

Isco has been linked to a departure from Real Madrid as his playing time has been limited.

“I've already said many times that I want to stay here for a long time and I hope that is what happens," Isco said. "I've always been clear about what I want. I want to stay here a long time and I can't understand why people are so surprised that I want to play more. If I didn't believe it, I wouldn't say it."

Isco also talked about his love for the club.

“I'm in the best team in the world, there is no club bigger than Real Madrid and I feel very fortunate to be here."

Wenger Dismisses Report Of £300k Per Week Offer To Alexis Sanchez

Apr 14, 2017 1:07 PM

Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports that Arsenal has offered Alexis Sanchez an extension worth £300,000 per week.

"Let me calculate. How much is that per year? Yes, OK," Wenger said with a laugh. "First of all, I cannot confirm that we have offered that. Secondly, we will do as always ... we have to consider our financial potential to sustain the wages for the whole squad.

"What is for sure is that what is paid per week today was 20 years ago per year. Will that continue to go up? I don't know. I'm always tempted to say no but I was wrong on that front."

Sanchez's extension talks will pick up in the summer.
