DeAndre Yedlin is joining Tottenham Hotspur in January, the English Premier League club confirmed Tuesday in a release.

Reports from both The People and MLSSoccer.com over the weekend indicated that Yedlin had received a UK work permit, clearing the final hurdle for a winter move.

“DeAndre is a young player with great potential who has already achieved a lot in Major League Soccer,” Mauricio Pochettino said on the team site.

“It is important for his development that he is given the time to adapt to his new surroundings both on and off the pitch and we believe that by coming to us in January it will give him the best opportunity to do so.”

Yedlin had been with the Seattle Sounders of the MLS.
