Argentina and England have joined France and Spain in the semifinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both Argentina and England needed extra time to advance in the quarterfinals over Switzerland and Norway respectively. 

France has reached the semifinals in three consecutive World Cups, while Argentina has reached three of the past four World Cups. Argentina has never previously lost a semifinal in six previous appearances. 

England has reached the semifinals in two of the past three. Spain most recently reached the semifinals in 2010 when they won the World Cup over the Netherlands.
