Manchester United have no intention of renegotiating the transfer fee for Marcus Rashford if Barcelona wish to make his loan move permanent, sources told ESPN. The club expects to receive the full amount agreed upon last summer.
Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan with an option to buy believed to be between $35 million and $40 million. Reports have suggested Barcelona may attempt to negotiate a reduced fee, but United sources indicate the club will not entertain such discussions.
The 28-year-old England international wants to remain in Spain, according to sources. He has impressed at Barcelona with 10 goals across 34 appearances in all competitions following a difficult period at Old Trafford.
Rashford was sidelined under former manager Ruben Amorim before joining Aston Villa on loan in January 2025. He moved to Barcelona six months later and has since revitalized his career under Hansi Flick.
United's position on Rashford has not shifted despite Amorim's departure and the appointment of Michael Carrick as head coach. Sources told ESPN that Carrick has not expressed interest in bringing Rashford back to Old Trafford at the conclusion of the season.
Rashford remains under contract with Manchester United through 2028 after signing a long-term extension in 2023. His most productive campaign at United came during the 2019-20 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had Carrick as an assistant at the time.
Barcelona must decide whether to exercise their purchase option by the end of the season.
