Real Madrid forward Endrick has not played a match in 154 days, with his last appearance coming against Sevilla on May 18. The 19-year-old Brazilian has been an unused substitute in five consecutive matches under new manager Xabi Alonso, according to The Athletic.

Sources familiar with Endrick's situation told The Athletic that Alonso explained it would be difficult for him to receive regular playing time this season. Endrick decided to remain at the Bernabeu despite the limited opportunities.

Endrick has suffered two hamstring injuries since May that significantly impacted his availability. The first injury kept him out of the Club World Cup, while a recurrence during his first training session back with the team in June extended his absence through the summer.

Academy striker Gonzalo Garcia seized the opportunity during Endrick's absence, winning the Club World Cup Golden Boot with four goals in six games. Garcia's performance added to the competition for playing time in Endrick's position.

"There is a lot of competition now, in his position and in the surrounding areas as well," Alonso said last week. "His time will come."

Those closest to Endrick are planning to review his situation in January to maximize his chances of making Brazil's World Cup squad. A loan move for the second half of the season remains a possibility if playing time does not materialize at Madrid.

Endrick has not been called up by Brazil for three consecutive international windows. His most recent national team appearance came in a 4-1 defeat to Argentina in March.

Madrid signed Endrick from Palmeiras for €35 million plus a potential €25 million in add-ons. He scored seven goals in 847 minutes during his first season, averaging 0.74 goals per 90 minutes.

Agent Thiago Freitas told The Athletic that Endrick is "confident" he will return to action soon and has "already proven he always makes the most of his minutes on the pitch."
