Everton is in talks with Arsenal over Theo Walcott.

Walcott has yet to start a Premier League match this season for Arsenal.

Walcott has 18 months remaining on his deal in which he earns £110,000 per week.

“If that is possible to get over the line I’d be delighted,” said Sam Allardyce. “There are negotiations happening at the moment and if that can all be sorted out – one of the most difficult things to do today – then that would be a great addition in my opinion from an attacking point of view. Great for several reasons: goalscoring threat, pace, experience and he’s good on assists from wide areas in terms of his crossing ability.

“If that is at all possible it would be very nice. It is not imminent but some negotiations are going on. I don’t think there’s any chance of a loan so I think it is a permanent deal we’re hoping to negotiate. I don’t get optimistic until they’ve signed on the dotted line. There are so many things that can happen in a short space of time.”

Walcott was bought by Arsenal from Southampton in 2006.
