Arsenal may be forced to sell Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez if no progress is made on contract talks before the January transfer window opens.

Ozil and Sanchez are each in the final season of their contract with Arsenal.

“Once you are in our kind of situation we have envisaged every kind of solution yes,” Arsene Wenger said. “It’s possible.”

Wenger resisted selling Sanchez over the summer while he was more encouraged at the time by the possibility of an extension for Ozil.

Ozil currently earns £140,000 per week and his agent has said he wants to remain with Arsenal.

“That’s my understanding,” Wenger said. “I always said that the fact that we didn’t find an agreement last year doesn’t mean the player will necessarily leave. Both players look happy here and overall I hope that the situation can be turned around. At the moment, we are not close enough to announce anything.”
