Manchester City increased their bid to Liverpool for Raheem Sterling to £40 million, but it was again rejected.

Liverpool remains determined to sell Sterling for no amount less than £50 million.

City have been the only club to formalize their interest in Sterling.

Liverpool have always maintained they do not want to sell Sterling, who has two years remaining on his contract, but there is no doubt the situation has deteriorated since the youngster turned down a new £100,000-a-week deal in January.
