Barcelona are weighing a significant forward restructure this summer, with the club prepared to entertain offers for Ferran Torres while pursuing up to two new attacking signings, multiple sources told ESPN.
Torres is under contract through 2027. The club prefers to sell him this window rather than Robert Lewandowski, as it represents their final opportunity to collect a transfer fee before he enters his final year.
Sporting director Deco is leading the search for a new starting striker. Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez tops the target list, while the club is simultaneously exploring options to retain Marcus Rashford beyond his current loan from Manchester United.
Barcelona hold a permanent purchase option on Rashford for approximately €30 million ($34.7 million) but are seeking either a reduced fee or a loan extension. United have made their position firm, insisting the full agreed sum is non-negotiable.
Atletico will not release the Argentine forward without a fight, and Arsenal are also actively pursuing Alvarez
Lewandowski, 37, has received interest from clubs worldwide, including MLS side Chicago Fire, who held discussions with his representatives as far back as January. The Polish striker has indicated he will weigh his options at season's end. Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed a desire to extend his deal.
Torres has contributed 16 goals across 40 appearances this season but has scored just three times in 2026, last finding the net in a 3-1 victory over Elche on January 31. Coaching staff described his commitment as solid, attributing the drought to a difficult stretch.
Barcelona acquired Torres from Manchester City in 2022 for over €50 million.
