Bayern Munich are negotiating a contract extension with England captain Harry Kane, the club's board member for sport Max Eberl has confirmed. Kane joined Bayern in 2023 and currently holds a contract set to expire in summer 2027.

The striker has delivered 34 goals in all competitions for the German champions this season. His prolific form has prompted Bayern to pursue an extension beyond his current four-year agreement.

Eberl confirmed the negotiations during an appearance at the DFL's New Year's Reception while speaking to Sky Deutschland. When asked about discussions over an extension, he stated simply that talks are ongoing with the England international.

"We are in talks with Harry," Eberl said.

Bayern have consistently expressed confidence about Kane remaining with the club long-term. Despite persistent rumors linking him with a return to England or moves to other European clubs, no credible suggestion of his departure has emerged.

Kane, 32, could pursue Alan Shearer's long-standing Premier League goals record if he returned to England. Shearer scored 260 goals in the Premier League, while Kane currently has 213 to his name.

The forward has established numerous records during his Bayern tenure. In December 2025, he became the fastest player to reach 100 goal contributions in Bundesliga history, achieving the milestone in 41 fewer games than previous record holder Arjen Robben.

Kane captured the first major trophy of his career during the 2024-25 season when Bayern won the Bundesliga title. The achievement ended years of near-misses during his time with Tottenham Hotspur in England.

Bayern currently sit eight points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table this season. The club remains involved in the DFB-Pokal German Cup competition and has guaranteed automatic qualification from the Champions League group stage before their final match against PSV Eindhoven.

Kane's scoring consistency has proven essential to Bayern's domestic and European success. His ability to perform at the highest level across multiple competitions justifies the club's eagerness to secure his services beyond 2027.

The England captain has adapted seamlessly to German football after years of establishing himself as one of the Premier League's elite strikers. His transition demonstrates both his technical ability and mental preparation for new challenges.

Bayern's pursuit of an extension reflects their commitment to building around Kane as a centerpiece of their attack. The club recognizes his value both on the pitch and as a leader within the squad.

The negotiations occur as Kane approaches his mid-thirties, typically considered the latter stages of a striker's prime years. However, his current form suggests he maintains the physical capabilities to compete at elite levels for several more seasons.

Kane's decision will ultimately balance sporting ambitions with personal considerations about his career legacy. Remaining at Bayern offers continued success in Germany while potentially limiting opportunities to break Premier League records.

The contract talks represent a pivotal moment for both Kane and Bayern as they determine the future direction of their relationship. A successful extension would cement Kane's commitment to German football while providing Bayern stability at the striker position.
