Arsenal executives are deep into planning for the January transfer window as the club sits atop the Premier League table after 11 games. The Gunners boast a perfect record in the Champions League group stage and are chasing their first league title since 2004.
The planning period comes amid significant organizational changes at the club. Managing director Richard Garlick was promoted to chief executive officer in September following Tim Lewis' departure as executive vice-chair.
Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke has maintained an increasingly prominent presence at Emirates Stadium and the training facility. He attended both the NFL game featuring the Kroenkes' Los Angeles Rams and Arsenal's match at Fulham in October.
Arsenal are engaged in contract talks with several key players, including winger Bukayo Saka and defender Jurriën Timber. Sources told ESPN that negotiations with Saka's representatives have progressed positively over several months.
Saka's new deal is expected to make him the club's highest-paid player at over £300,000 per week. Timber's contract doesn't expire until 2028, but Arsenal want to reward his excellent recent form.
Arsenal spent approximately £250 million in the summer on signings including Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyökeres and Martín Zubimendi. The club now faces decisions on several players whose minutes may be limited.
Striker Gabriel Jesus is nearing a return from knee surgery but will compete with Gyökeres and Kai Havertz for playing time. Jesus has stated his desire to remain until his 2027 contract expires, but next summer's World Cup could force a rethink.
Right back Ben White has been marginalized as Timber has become the first choice. Oleksandr Zinchenko, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, could be recalled in January if he doesn't feature regularly.
Arsenal hold interest in Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, sources told ESPN. However, any move would likely impact Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard, who both face uncertain futures.
