Liam Delap has chosen to sign with Chelsea over Manchester United. Delap was swayed by the opportunity to play with former teammate Cole Palmer in the Champions League.
If United had won the Europa League final and qualified for the Champions League, they would have had the inside track to sign Delap. With United's loss to Tottenham Hotspur, the opportunity opened up for Chelsea.
Chelsea are now in the final stages of negotiations with Delap, who is available for £30 million due to a clause in his Ipswich contract in the event of the club being relegated from the Premier League. Delap scored 12 goals in 37 Premier League games for Kieran McKenna's team.
