Landon Donovan will retire at the end of the 2014 MLS season.
Donovan, who turned 32 in March, has been with the LA Galaxy since 2005. Donovan has scored 105 goals in 229 appearances for the club.
Donovan was controversially omitted from the United States' World Cup roster in May, but there were concerns over his conditioning.
