Liverpool inquired about a deal with Monaco for Radamel Falcao, but have reportedly been told that a deal with Real Madrid is close to being complete.
Falcao has sought a return to Madrid this summer as he previously played for Atlético Madrid.
Manchester City have also expressed interest in Falcao.
Both Premier League teams were keen on a loan deal with an option to make a deal permanent.
