Xavi said he wants to eventually manage Barcelona in the future, but will earn experience in the Qatar league.

"The idea is to start my managerial career here in Qatar where there is less pressure so that I can test the water and gain some valuable experience, before eventually returning to Europe and hopefully Barcelona. I am champing at the bit to get started as a manager. As things stand, I do not consider myself to be ready to become a manager at the top level. I need to walk before I can run," he said.

Xavi added that his style will be influenced by Barcelona's possession.

"Obviously my ultimate goal is to end up becoming the Barcelona coach, but I need to learn the ropes before I can start thinking about that. I have lots of ideas and footballing concepts that I want to pass on to my future players. Football can be played in many different ways, but I have always been a huge fan of Barcelona's approach. The way in which they control the game and keep the ball is the style that I have grown up with and it is the style that I will use when I am a coach."
