While Barcelona was winning titles with homegrown talents from La Masia, Real Madrid was associated with buying the world's most expensive players.

The generation of purchased galacticos such as Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and David Beckham has evolved into Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Xabi Alonso on the current club.

But La Fabrica, Real's youth academy, has also produced several key members of the current club.

Alvaro Morata, Jese and Dani Carvajal all getting time in the first team squad.

“The Real Madrid youth academy is the best in the world," said Carvajal. They teach you the core fundamentals of the game when you are young, then they build as you grow into a professional player.”

Carvajal had to leave Real for Bayer Leverkusen last season to prove himself and return as a first team player.

“I had to leave, but I always kept the hope of returning. It was the move that I needed to make for my career at that time and everything worked out great for me.”
