Brendan Rodgers was told by Liverpool management he had to secure at least seven points from his next nine available to him in order to keep his job, according to reporting from Barry Glendenning during Thursday's Football Weekly Extra podcast.

Liverpool lost the first match of the three outright at Manchester United, making that an immediate impossibility. 

In the Europa League on Thursday, Liverpool tied Bordeaux with a 1-1 result.

Liverpool plays Norwich City on Sunday with a tie or loss very possibly resulting in the dismissal of Rodgers.
