Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has played down reports that manager Luis Enrique would soon be replaced and that Lionel Messi is unhappy.

Catalan station TV3's Esport Club suggested that Bartomeu had told Messi that Enrique would be sacked, while AS maintains the board has asked former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid boss Jupp Heynckes to come out of retirement and take over until the end of the season.

"[The TV3 report] is completely false," Bartomeu is reported as saying in El Pais. "After each game I go down into the dressing-room to talk with the players. The day of the Elche game I did that, and I spoke with Messi, but also with Adriano, [Gerard] Pique and others. In no moment did I have a meeting with Messi, and for sure not about these issues."

Bartomeu says Messi has no intention to leave.

"There is always talk about teams who want to sign Messi," Bartomeu said. "A while ago it was Paris Saint-Germain, now it is Chelsea. We are used to it. The player is happy at the club. He has been with us since he was 13 years old, and is the leader of the transformation of the first team that we are making. He is the best player in the world. He is motivated. There are no problems with him."
