Joan Laporta has denied reports of meeting with José Mourinho's agent about the possibility of having him manage at Barcelona.

Laporta is a former president of Barcelona and may run again for eelection in 2016.

Laporta oversaw the rebuilding of Barcelona with managers such as Frank Rijkaard and Pep Guardiola.

"My style of coaching is with the [Johan] Cruyff philosophy," Laporte said.

"Mourinho is a great professional and I respect him, but I did not mention him with Jorge Mendes, a person with whom I have a good friendship for many years.

"From time to time, we talk about things."

Mourinho was formerly an assistant coach at Barça under Louis van Gaal, but has become a wildly unpopular figure following his part in the club's rivalry with Real Madrid.
