Inter Milan has fired Walter Mazzarri after 17 months in charge at the San Siro.

President Erick Thohir decided to take action after a downturn in results.

Inter had a slow start to the season winning just four of their first 11 Serie A games, and are currently ninth, 12 points behind leaders Juventus.

“The club would like to thank Mazzarri for the commitment, dedication and professionalism he showed,” said a statement on their website. “Today’s training will be taken by Giuseppe Baresi.”

Roberto Mancini has been rumored as a likely candidate.
