France have climbed to the top of the FIFA Men's World Rankings for the first time since September 2018, surpassing Spain and Argentina following two straight friendly wins. The updated standings reflect results from 166 international matches played during the most recent window.
Spain dropped to second after Tuesday's scoreless draw with Egypt, ending a run atop the rankings that dated to September 2025. Argentina fell one place to third. The three nations remain separated by fewer than three points.
Portugal moved up one spot to fifth, trading places with Brazil after the Selecao dropped points against France. The remainder of the top 10 is unchanged. The USMNT are ranked 16th.
Among the largest climbers in the top 50: Turkey (22nd, up 3), Cote d'Ivoire (34th, up 3), Sweden (38th, up 4) and Tunisia (44th, up 3). Bosnia and Herzegovina (65th, up 6) secured both a World Cup berth and a six-place ranking jump, joining Sweden, Turkey and Czechia as European play-off qualifiers for the 2026 tournament.
Vietnam recorded the window's biggest move, climbing nine spots to 99th and gaining 36.17 ranking points. Eritrea returned to the rankings for the first time in nearly three years.
With World Cup qualification now complete, only three of the top 30 teams will miss the 48-team tournament: Italy (12th), Denmark (20th) and Nigeria (26th). Thirty-seven of the top 50 ranked nations have qualified.
Kosovo reached their highest-ever ranking position at 78th despite elimination by Turkey in the European play-off finals.
