Carlo Ancelotti is widely expected to be fired as manager of Real Madrid, but he would like to remain in the position.

Rafa Benitez is considered likely to replace him this summer.

"I have the confidence and the desire to carry on because I like this club, these players and this city," he said.

"If I don't carry on I will have spent two fantastic years here and each will go their separate ways, the club one way and me the other.

"We have had some very happy moments, perhaps the happiest in the history of Real Madrid.

"I won't be sad as I will have the feeling that I gave everything I could."

Ancelotti won the Champions League and Copa del Rey in his first season, but Real Madrid finishes 14-15 without any trophies.
