Josep Maria Bartomeu has said Luis Enrique will stay on next season with Barcelona and angrily rejected a rumour that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti had been lined up as his successor.

Enrique signed a two-year deal with Barcelona last summer.

"He has a contract and he will continue," the club president said in quotes translated by AS. "He has done a great job."

Enrique could get an extension with Barcelona depending on what happens with presidential elections at the club.

"We'll talk about that in the future," he said. "I'd be delighted if Luis Enrique stays here for many years, but there are elections on the horizon."
